How Shelby Lost 2 Pants Sizes in 8 weeks

In 8 weeks, Shelby lost two pant sizes, but gained so much more in terms of her confidence and athletic ability. A regular in the Training for Warriors Julington Creek location, we asked Shelby about her experience:

TFWJAX: What is your favorite exercise?

SM: My favorite exercise are the Hurricane workouts. Although they are extremely challenging, I enjoy getting the cardio and weights combined into one workout.

TFWJAX: What led you to sign up for the 8 Week Transformation?

SM: I decided to sign up for the 8 Week Transformation because I tired of working out on my own and not seeing any results. I felt frustrated that I would workout everyday and not see any changes. I knew I needed something different and someone to help guide me during the workouts and educate me about proper nutrition.

TFWJAX: Describe your early experiences at a TFW Group Training?

SM: My very first workout at TFW was a Hurricane workout. It was extremely challenging but the people I was with were so encouraging! I thought it would be difficult for me to adjust to a "group class" because I was so used to working out by myself. They definitely made me feel included and encouraged me through the whole workout.

TFWJAX: Now at the end of the 8 Week Transformation, what will you take away from this experience?

SM: After the 8 weeks, I have more confidence within myself and my fitness capabilities. My eating habits have completely changed and I can't wait to see how I improve even more after the 8 weeks!

TFWJAX: What advice would you give to someone looking to start a journey towards a healthier lifestyle?

SM: My advice would be to start now. You have to step out of your comfort zone to see changes within yourself and your body. If you really want to change your life, why wait?

TFWJAX: What was your greatest accomplishment, either physically or mentally during the 8 Week Transformation?

SM: I think my greatest accomplishment was mentally putting 100% into my workouts and sticking to my nutrition plan. Not everyday was easy, but it was worth it!

TFWJAX: Describe your nutrition prior to starting the 8 week Challenge?

SM: My nutrition prior to the 8 weeks was subpar compared to what it is now. I have a huge sweet tooth so eating candy was a usual thing for me. Eating out was also something I did quite frequently. I thought I was eating pretty good but I was actually doing more harm than good.

TFWJAX: How did the 8 week Nutrition Challenge help you in reaching your goals?

SM: The nutrition part was definitely a main component in helping my reach my goals. I started to eat things that helped me perform better during the workouts and recover faster afterwards. Changing my eating habits was challenging because it was so different from what I was eating. I knew that eating the correct foods was only helping me in the long run.

TFWJAX: What nutrition tip(s) would you give someone that is looking to make a lifestyle change? SM: I would tell someone to know that your health is most important. Treat your body like a machine and feed it what will make it run efficiently. Eating the right things is not only going to help you doing your workouts, it will make you feel great!

TFWJAX: What do you want to accomplish next (Goal can be physical, mental, nutrition based, etc.)?

SM: I have a couple of things I want to accomplish next and that would be to do a chin up with no assistance, to become faster in my sprints and to see more changes in my body!
