Shannon Thomas came to the Training For Warriors Julington Creek Dojo with limited exposure to a fitness routine. During her time with us, she's developed the mental fortitude necessary to achieve her body transformation. She's also become a great runner and now looks forward to her time in the dojo. We're so proud of all that you've accomplished, Shannon! Get to know more about her below.
TFWJC: What is your favorite exercise?
ST: The circuit pyramid! I love the total body workout, because I feel the fat burning off. I like how everyone motivates each other throughout the workout. Coach Adam really pushes you, especially in sprinting. I like how I can challenge myself.
TFWJC: What led you to sign up for the 8-Week Transformation?
ST: Having never done any form of exercise before, at 40 years old, being very overweight and starting to have health issues, I knew I had to do something. I found out about TFW through a friend and after I did the 1 week trial, I knew TFW was exactly what I needed and sign up for the 8-Week Transformation.
TFWJC: Describe your early experiences at a TFW Group Training.
ST: The TFW system lets you explore your capabilities with a group of people who are in exactly the same life as you - stressful jobs, kids, families, daily challenges that hold us back from being the best we can be.
TFWJC: Now at the end of the 8-Week Transformation, what will you take away from this experience?
ST: A lot... I'm doing cardio training I never thought possible, lifting weights, I've lost a lot of weight and feel like a completely different person.
TFWJC: What advice would you give to someone looking to start a journey towards a healthier lifestyle?
ST: Give it a go....you'll be amazed what you can achieve with TFW expertise and direction.
TFWJC: What was your greatest accomplishment, either physically or mentally during the 8-Week Transformation?
ST: I can run! I can physically run, which mentally tells me I’m stronger!
TFWJC: Describe your nutrition prior to starting the 8 Week Challenge.
ST: I either binge eat or all-day meal skipper. I have never been consistent into a healthy nutrition program.
TFWJC: How did the 8 Week Nutrition Challenge help you in reaching your goals?
ST: It gave me the right habits to create. As time goes on and the coaches help me with nutrition challenges, I will grow into a new healthy lifestyle. At this time Coach Adam is supporting me with nutrition, and Coach Jake gives me good recipes to try.
TFWJC: What nutrition tip(s) would you give someone looking to make a lifestyle change?
ST: Start with eating the same foods, around the same time. I’m learning how to incorporate new healthy habits one day at a time.
TFWJC: What do you want to accomplish next (goal can be physical, mental, nutrition based, etc.)?
ST: Continue my training, learn more about nutrition and keep the mindset of believing in myself - the TFW system has changed my life and I'm very excited about what results I can achieve in my future.
