As holidays approaches, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to all the students, coaches and friends who are the lifeblood of Training For Warriors Jacksonville. With your support and warrior spirit, we are transforming the way people approach health and wellness in Jacksonville.
The holiday season is a time to pause and reflect on the year with loved ones. However, it is also important to stay focused and disciplined in order to maintain good health. With less than a month left before the year ends, we can still set and achieve aggressive goals before ringing in 2016 with these quick strategies:
Schedule your workouts as you would a holiday social: If you put a workout on your schedule, you are more likely to keep the appointment with yourself. For those of you that want to get an extra workout in, we offer small group and one-on-one sessions six days a week. For the road warriors, don’t forget to talk to your coach about workouts that can be done outside the dojo. Even if you can’t maintain your normal routine, finding small ways to stay active through the holiday season will make a big difference in maintaining your momentum.
Make sound food choices: If you are making healthy food choices through the day, a little indulgence won’t lead you too far away from your nutrition goals. Try to incorporate the Warrior 20 power foods in your menu to keep you full and satisfied. When you are evaluating your indulgences, be sure skip the food that you can buy or make any day of the week. A special family holiday recipe is certainly something to be savored and enjoyed!
Get a good night sleep: While time is always a premium, it is in short supply around the holidays. Sleep is important to rejuvenate your mind and body, not to mention reduce your stress level.
Keep in mind the spirit of the season: Stress is often an under reported emotion that effects many of us financially, physically and emotionally. By setting realistic time and financial expectations, you can alleviate a fair amount of stress associated with holidays. Also, don’t forget to take time for yourself so you can be your best for others.
2016 will be an exciting year for the TFW Jacksonville familia as we launch new resources and expand our facilities.
